Access to corporate websites from mobile devices is outpacing the global trend according to Investis research released today. The research shows that 15.9% of all corporate website visits come from mobile devices as opposed to 14.13% on all types of websites worldwide.

 

The research is published in Investis’ latest guide for digital corporate and investor communications: Why Mobile Matters. Investis found that the proportion of visits to corporate websites from mobile devices has increased by over 780% since the launch of the iPad, which continues to dominate the market accounting for 40% of all mobile visits to corporate websites. It is a sign of Apple’s continued dominance amongst business professionals; iOS remains the most popular mobile operating system for corporate website visitors, significantly bucking Android’s global lead, making up 69% of visits to corporate websites as opposed to just 22% for Android.

 

Companies have begun to respond to user demands: close to a third of the FTSE100 and 47% of the DAX30 now provides either a dedicated smartphone website or makes use of responsive design. In addition, nearly a third of the FTSE100 also offers an app for corporate or IR use.

The IQ data in this report derives from analysis of over 37 million corporate website visits over two and a half years. The company websites used to gather this data were predominantly European and North American.
